Your twenties aren't for balance

I don't think work-life balance exists in your twenties. You don't have an established career, you're not successful, you don't have what you want in life. So you have no choice but to struggle, work on yourself, and hope that after 5 or 10 years it breaks through.

If you spend your twenties partying, you'll struggle anyway. But then for the rest of your life, in a job you might not even enjoy.

I started hard grinding at around 18 or 19. Every Monday to Friday I was at work from about 8 to 7. Always worked more than others. And on weekends I kept going. Not because I had to. Because things always interested me so much. Something was bugging me, I couldn't finish it on Friday, so I wanted to give it at least a little time. Maybe 4 hours on a Saturday. Most of the day I was free.

I cut out going to bars, balls, discos. I know that sounds counterproductive because at 20 you want to enjoy life. But because I had money, I could afford vacations 6 or 7 times a year and weekend trips. I don't regret a single thing I traded.

I wouldn't say relationships suffered either. On the contrary. The money I earned let me invest in experiences instead of hangovers.

Now I'm 34, turning 35 this year. I have a wife and an almost 2-year-old son. And now work-life balance actually exists in some way. I try to give them the proportional share they deserve. I give maximum to wife, son, work, and side projects. It's harder to juggle, but I know how to work because I've been doing it for 15 years.

People often envy success or envy that someone achieved something. But they don't see the incredible amount of sacrificed time behind it. Years of weekends spent building instead of partying. That's the part nobody talks about.

If you're in your twenties right now and you go full throttle, you have one clear advantage over us "old folks." You have time to make mistakes. We can't experiment as much anymore. Use that window while you have it.
